What do jobs, marriages and boyfriends or girlfriends have in common? At some time in your life I bet you said the words: “I stayed too long.”
Over the last month I felt I was hearing that statement more than usual, so I came up with a response along the lines of, “You did not stay too long. You stayed until the pain of staying was greater than the fear of what would happen if you left.” Did not matter if it was a job, a marriage, a boyfriend or girlfriend, the answer was the same. I did not think that up on my own, it is a psychological truism.
Humans do not change until the pain of staying the same is greater than the fear of what will happen when they change.
Today something additional came to me. Now my response will be:
“You did not stay too long. You are taking too long to learn what you need from why you stayed at all. Get busy.”
Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want, until you transform the experience into what you need to learn.
I have another recommendation. Join me this Saturday, January 30, 2016 for a day-long learning event. What will you learn? Possibly what you were suppose to have learned by staying too long! The investment also includes a 90-minute private session with me within the first 90 days of the event to help you move from excuses to excited. The event is designed for your success. All you have to do is your part. Register.
Be Brave. What are you waiting for? Andrea
