Sex, Leadership and Emotional Intelligence

Big news:  All criminal charges against former global financial leader, Dominique Strauss-Kahn,  have been dropped.

Bigger news we globally are too weak to discuss:  Strauss-Kahn story should not be about  criminal wrong doing.  The story should be about about trusting leadership to have evolved in their emotional intelligence to the point that they can manage their basic urges.  That is a sign they can make better decisions.

I ask — and I hope you do, too — “How can I trust you to advise me on global finance when you cannot find better things to do when you have a minute or two but engage in a sex act with a stranger?”

Now, does anyone wonder why we are in the global economic mess we are in?  Please remember, great economic growth was lost in the United States in the 1990’s because a leader here had the same problem.  We spent a decade losing great growth because the media and political parties focused on the act and resulting dishonesty instead of demanding more of our leadership.

Man or woman, we must demand more of ourselves and our leaders.

Now here is the real Dr. Success challenge:  What are you going to do today to hold yourself more responsible for the growth of your emotional intelligence?
