Slow Learner

It appears I am a very slow learner.  This week a comment came though on an old blog post.  I wanted to see what the content was before I posted the comment.  After re-reading what I wrote a few years back I decided there is a reason why one of the main adages in the Don’t Die inspirational book series I created is:  “You teach what you need to learn.”  Take a moment and read this very, very old post I wrote.  Then come back and I will tell you why I am such a slower learner.

So, if I told you that when I went to the Oaks in Ojai in May 2013, it was the first time I had been to a spa since I wrote that post back in 2010, would you agree that I need to learn a bit better what I teach?  Oh sure, life has gotten in the way, but really.  I set a goal, I had a plan, I consider personal care the foundation of all personal development (interest, intent, belief)…and I failed.

Now this is not me using another of my adages (You can make excuses or you can achieve your goals) when I say one of the important things about goal setting is to continually review your goals to see if they are still relevant.  If so, measure the gap between what you did achieve and what the original goal was, and start again.  What you will find (and I have found) is that you did not really fail, you probably did somethings, just not enough things to get you to where you still want to go.

Being a slow learner will never be a problem as long as you continue to commit to always being a learner.

Thank you, Andrea
